I’m on my second day using your Chocolate flavored recovery drink, and I love it! It tastes great, and has given me the extra energy to complete my p90x workouts. For the first time, I wasn’t sore the next day. I’ve never tried the Vanilla flavor, but the Chocolate is delicious! Way to go Mike, and thank you! Bring it!
Thanks for the feedback Mary, glad to hear that you enjoyed it, keep up the good work.
My wife and I are in our 11th week of the P90X, and have used Mikes exclusively with great success. Tried the vanilla first, and doctored it alittle to eliminate the ‘plastic like’ taste, although still tasty. We tried the chocolate and found it to be a huge improvement. We both LOVE it. My wife mixes it with 2 cups ice cold water – period. I add a bannana and sometimes a 1/2 cup of milk and 1 1/2 cup ice cold water – WOW! like a piece of chocolate shake heaven.
Thanks Mike!!
I’m excited to try this, especially since it now has a chocolate flavor. I ordered my first 4lb tub on Amazon. I’ve never used a recovery drink before, but I’m going to start up P90X again and wanted to see if this could live up to the hype. I’ve always been kinda skeptical about recovery drinks. If it lives up to it’s name I will recommend it to all my friends and family.
P.S. I’m glad that I could support your cause Mike.
I completed 1 round of P90x two weeks ago, and I did it without any recovery drinks. Just started round 2 and decided to try a recovery drink. Looked online and decided on Mike’s Mix – chocolate. It taste great (I just mix with water) and it has greatly helped getting through the workouts and recovery. I’m a fan and have given some to a friend that is doing the workouts with me.
Hi,
I am trying to decide to order original or chocolate flavor. What is the ingredient difference between the two of them. I found it on amazon website that the chocolate flavor lists coco. Is the added coco – raw coco? Is there any additional sugar added? I am on a diet with no sugar (I only use natural stevia) and I just wanted to make sure I do not compromise it by a recovery drink.
Thank you.
Hello Agnes,
Thank you for your interest in Mike’s Mix. The only difference between the original flavor and the chocolate flavor is the addition of raw cocoa powder. There is no additional sugar added to the chocolate mix. However, both flavors of recovery drink have significant amounts of sugar in them which come in the forms of dextrose, fructose, and a small amount of lactose from the protein. Therefore, neither recovery drink would fit into a diet that excluded all sugar.
The “sugars” included in Mike’s Mix are not present for flavoring or sweetness (dextrose, the most prominent sugar, doesn’t even have a sweet taste) but to provide high glycemic carbohydrate. The most prominent element of any functional recovery drink is carbohydrate to replenish glycogen and promote an insulin response. I wrote the following article that explains in greater detail the reasoning behind the addition of “sugars” in Mike’s Mix and their function in recovery: http://mikesmixrecoverydrink.com/sugar-recovery-drink/
I applaud your effort to eliminate sugars from diet, as it is certainly not an easy task. I can assure you that Mike’s Mix would help facilitate recovery from your workouts, but it will be up to you to decide if it fits into your nutritional philosophy.
Take Care,
Mike
