Peanut Butter Banana Protein Smoothie
The words peanut butter, banana and smoothie immediately bring my mind to an indulgent treat and this is no exception. Parents and kids alike will love this treat that can be enjoyed for breakfast, lunch or a daytime snack.
Look to add variety to this by adding:
- A handful of leafy greens, such as Spinach
- Mike’s Mix Chia Seeds
- Avacado
- Switch the peanut butter for almond or another nut butter
- Mike’s Mix Quinoa Flour
- Yogurt
What’s the big deal about flax?
Omega-3 essential fatty acids, “good” fats that have been shown to have heart-healthy effects. Each tablespoon of ground flaxseed contains about 1.8 grams of plant omega-3s.
Lignans, which have both plant estrogen and antioxidant qualities. Flaxseed contains 75 to 800 times more lignans than other plant foods.
Fiber. Flaxseed contains both the soluble and insoluble types.
Concerned about calories? No problem. Share your smoothie with a loved one and you will cut the calories in half.
There are many options to this recipe. Need it to be vegan? Switch out the whey protein for Mike’s Mix Vegan Protein and use a non-dairy, vegan milk alternative.
