Pear Apple Strawberry Whey Protein SmoothieThis smoothie comes from a long-time Mike’s Mix customer. He combined pears, apples, strawberries and a touch of honey with Mike’s Mix Whey Protein for a light, refreshing fruit smoothie. While the pears and apples provide you with Vitamin C for your immune system and dietary fiber for regulation, strawberries provide you with Folate and Potassium. Folate aids in the production of both red and white blood cells. It also aids in the removal of homocysteine, a toxic compound that leads to severe artery damage. Folate deficiency can cause an increased risk of heart disease and coronary complications. Potassium deficiency is associated with the risk of high blood pressure, heart disease, stroke, arthritis, cancer, digestive disorders, and infertility. Many athletes, or those with physically demanding jobs, tend to be low in potassium, making this protein smoothie a great addition to your diet. This smoothie is thick, but mild in flavor.

Pear Apple Strawberry Recovery SmoothieIngredients:

1/2 cup frozen strawberries
1/2 Macintosh apple (medium)
1/2 Bartlett pear (medium)
1/2 cup water
1 1/2 scoops Mike’s Mix Whey Protein
1 tablespoon honey

Instructions:

Place all ingredients into the blender and mix on low. Gradually increase speed until pureed.For a sweeter smoothie, add more strawberries or more honey.
