Another Mike’s Mix customer, Frank, sent us this tasty recipe just in time for the autumn season.  Frank says,  “Pumpkin Spice is a lot more than advertised!  It has a very creamy, milkshake like texture and if you have any customer or yourself who are big fans of either apple or pumpkin pie, this is a great substitute for either.”   Thanks Frank, it looks delicious!

Thinking that pumpkin is just for those seasonal pies?  Low in fat and calories but rich in disease fighting nutrients, pumpkin is loaded with Alpha and Beta Carotene, vitamins C and E, Potassium and Magnesium.  If that wasn’t enough for you, just one half cup of pumpkin has 5 grams of fiber.  Fiber can help reduce bad cholesterol levels, protect the body against heart disease, control blood sugar levels, promote healthy digestion and plays a role in weight loss.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup Apple Cider (Frank used all natural, no preservatives or sugar added)
  • 1/2 cup Pumpkin
  • 2 scoops Mike’s Mix Whey Protein Buy Mike’s Mix
  • 1 dash of Ground Cinnamon (approximately 1/4 ground cinnamon stick)
  • 4 Ice Cubes

 

 

Directions: Pour juice, pumpkin, protein, cinnamon and ice into a blender.  Blend until consistency is even throughout, about  30-60 seconds.
